MarinTrust is pleased to announce that the MarinTrust Chain of Custody Standard has been revised following a successful accreditation process. The updates to the Standard, including enhancements to guidance and procedure, are minor and focussed on improving clarity and practicality for applicants and Certificate Holders. As a result, a one-month review period will apply from 1st April 2026, allowing stakeholders to review the revisions before certification activities against the revised Version 2.1 and the transition period begins from 1st May 2026 .
Key enhancements in the revised Standard include improved readability, greater consistency and accuracy of terminology in alignment with ISO/IEC 17065, removal of derogated clauses, and updates to data reporting frequency in clause 2.4 from quarterly to annual. No certification activities will be conducted against Version 2.1 during the review period.
“This revision of MarinTrust’s Chain of Custody Standard marks significant milestone following ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation. Often an overlooked process, accreditation provides a rigorous and internationally recognised mechanism that confirms the competence, impartiality and integrity of organisations certifying products, processes and services. In short, it further affirms the credibility of this important Standard for marine ingredients industry and its value chain", noted Laura Courage, Assurance and Risk Manager, MarinTrust.
Elizabeth Inciso Velásquez, Technical Manager for MarinTrust added that "with these enhancements to the Chain of Custody Standard, we have worked to ensure that this will be a smooth transition for certificate holders. Demand for certified and traceable marine ingredients is growing and this Standard plays a unique role in providing these assurances. Our continuous development of the MarinTrust Standards means that we continue to evolve with markets demands.”
The Chain of Custody webpage has now been updated to include detailed guidance on this transition. Please contact us via [email protected] if you have any further questions.
