MarinTrust recognises MSC‑certified fisheries as equivalent to its whole‑fish fishery criteria. To maintain this status, all MSC‑certified fisheries supplying MarinTrust‑certified facilities undergo annual verification checks. This page provides access to the latest MSC verification reports.

The MarinTrust fisheries verification process provides certificate holders with an alternative route for whole fish raw material approval. This process reduces duplication of efforts and provides a credible, cost-effective option for certificate holders wishing to source from fisheries already certified by MarinTrust recognised equivalent standards. Read more on the MarinTrust Fisheries Verification Process here.

Fisheries approved through this process are considered MarinTrust Approved and treated as a ‘MarinTrust recognised equivalent fishery’ for standard compliance. This approval depends on the fishery maintaining its third‑party certification. If certification is lost, the raw material immediately loses its Verification Approval and must undergo a full MarinTrust assessment before being accepted again.

Any changes to the fishery’s certification—such as suspensions, gear changes, client group updates, vessel changes, or fishing‑area revisions—may also affect approval status. Applicants or certificate holders must inform MarinTrust and their Certification Body as soon as they become aware of any change, including updates to MSC Chain of Custody certification or the fishery’s Unit of Certification.
