LRQA training

The LRQA team of specialist expert auditors will be open for applications to the MarinTrust Programme from 1st March 2022, following a robust onboarding process and training programme. MarinTrust delivered training on their standards, procedures, mission, and vision.

LRQA have been delivering seafood certification for over 30 years, assessing more than 100 species across 40 countries and we are very much looking forward to working with MarinTrust to showcase even more responsible practice in producing quality foods for a growing population. LRQA are in the process of expanding their auditor pool and building capacity in terms of service delivery and geographic availability.’” Martin Gill, Head of Fisheries and Aquaculture at LRQA, explains.

MarinTrust works with independent third-party accredited certification bodies, which are registered to conduct audits under the MarinTrust programme.

In November 2020, MarinTrust announced that Lloyds Register (now LRQA) had been accepted as a third-party Certification Body (CB) to certify against the MarinTrust programme. This followed a tender for addition of a new Certification Body to certify against the MarinTrust programme. Applications were reviewed by an independent consultant and accepted by the MarinTrust Governing Body Committee.

The LRQA teams have complied with all the steps required to conduct MarinTrust certifications, alongside SAI Global (NSF International) and SGS Perú. We are delighted that LRQA will be contributing to improving the accessibility of the programme and to the goal that MarinTrust has set itself of getting 75 percent of global marine ingredients, certified, in assessment or in the Improver Programme by 2025” says Laura Courage, Assurance and Risk Manager at MarinTrust.
